OceanAlpha Delivers Comprehensive USV Training to Malaysian Maritime Department | OceanAlpha

OceanAlpha, a leading company in uncrewed surface vessel(USV) technologies and solutions, in partnership with Tara Advisory, successfully concluded a four-day intensive training program for The USV Hydro Squard of the Malaysian Maritime Department (MMD). The training, conducted from December 2-5, 2024 at Klang Port, was designed to elevate the MMD’s proficiency in operating the UKUR 6 USV, a vessel primarily utilized for hydrographic surveys, monitoring shipwrecks, and ensuring the functionality of navigational aids.

The training program, which included both indoor sessions and practical USV demonstrations at the dockside, combined theoretical knowledge with hands-on experience. The training was deemed a success, with all participants successfully completing the course and receiving certifications. Feedback from the MMD team underscored the trainers’ expertise and the practical skills acquired during the training: “It’s been a fun and entirely new learning experience for us. The trainers explained the details clearly, and we also learned many practical techniques for the maintenance and operation of the USV. We hope to continue sharing information and learning more lessons together.”

“Malaysia is at the forefront of integrating marine USVs into its workflow,” commented Pinestone Shi, General Manager of OceanAlpha “The MMD’s proactive approach is expected to set a new standard for maritime management and innovation in the region.
